New Members
Joining the American Legion as a whole and subsequently being assigned to a Post occurs as follows:
Navigate to https://www.legion.org/join and select the “Join Today” button to get started.
When you complete the application, there will be a processing delay and you will eventually recieve your Membership ID.
Note: All new applicants are administratively placed into a state-level “bucket”. It is up to you to join a specific Post!
Send your ID number and DD-214 (Member Copy 4) to membership@legionpost340.org, or attend a monthly Post meeting (details below) so you can be officially greeted and sworn in!

eligibility
Veterans:
If you served honorably for at least one day of active duty, you qualify for American Legion membership.
Current Service Members:
Those still serving on active duty, in the Reserves, or National Guard are also eligible.
U.S. Merchant Marine:
Eligible only if service was from December 7, 1941, to December 31, 1946 (WWII).
